Transoral incisionless fundoplication is a novel technique which allows in selected patients without a hiatal hernia an ability to perform a gastric wrap around the GE junction without the need for surgery.
The procedure is done under general anesthesia via an endoscopy and a special device known as the EsophyX. Helical retractors are used to grasp tissue and fold up the stomach using the tissue mold of the device. H-shaped SerosaFuse fasteners are used to appose the layers of the esophageal and fundus tissue to anchor the repair.
